Just back from a quick 4k 7am run......ahhh....how I've missed outdoor running!!!!πββοΈπ
I also ran without my knee support thingy for the first time in 3 weeks or so and I had no niggles.....hurrah!!!!!π€
Tried a new route today in the "big park" where my local park runs take place.....and also tackled a "hill".....ok, a gradual incline but to me it felt like a hill.....lol!!!π π
For now, have decided to focus on consolidation and scope the path that the park run uses....in the hope that I'll feel confident enough to turn up to run alongside others in a park run soon enough...fingers crossed!!π€
Really happy to be back running amongst trees, birds and squirrels!!!π³π¦πΏπββοΈπ
Happy running, peeps!!!π

βA quick 4kβ! So casual! Youβre such an amazing runner now! ππβ€οΈ
Great that your knee is behaving. Bet youβre relieved about that. ππ»
Good plan scoping your parkrun route. I bet youβll tackle one sooner rather than later - once Iβd run 5k, I just had to have a piece of parkrun, I had serious FOMO reading all the euphoric posts on here! πββοΈπ
Anyway, enjoy consolidating, and happy happy running! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπππ
Hahaha!!!! Trust you to spot how casual I made it sound.....ππ
But it's true.....had meant to run yesterday morning but what with a delayed flight, arriving really late and jetlag.....I slept in and spent most of yesterday tackling mountains of laundry and getting geared for schools starting.....ππ life just takes over!!!
So, I just accepted it, remembered to drink lots of water and went to bed early. Woke up today and off I went confident in the knowledge that I could cover 5k but aware of taking it slow and only pushing as far as felt enough.
So - that's what I did....and it felt great!!!
I know that if I do a few more runs like this and build up to 5k, then I'll feel much less nervous about joining a park run.....and given my miserable sense of direction (believe me you, I can get lost in no time!!), scoping the route is the only way forward.....lol!!!!π
And Hotheels, Iβm not the only enthusiastic one - you always paint a happy picture too - Hotheels running merrily along, Iβd imagine always with a broad smile and sunny disposition! πππ»
You must promise to do parkrun as soon as youβve done a few 5ks. You will absolutely love it! Such a fabbo atmosphere! β€οΈπββοΈβ€οΈ I canβt wait for the weekend after next - canβt do next weekend as Iβm going to a disco. No really! And I wonβt be home until the wee hours! Donβt laugh!!! π π π³π³π π
Weekend after though - bring it on! πͺπ»ππββοΈπββοΈππ
I know itβs crazy alright! The only reason I like rest days is because it means the next one is a running day!
Disco will be fun. Average age of our group will be late 50βs! Itβs a hoot and weβve been before - my grown kids find it hysterical! Believe me, if I could parkrun the next morning I would - but I fear Iβd crash and burn! πππ
π I remembered how you said that you waited until 7am and set off....was a tad bit nippy when I started but I quickly warmed up and with the sun out, it was a pleasant sweaty run.
After weeks of hot and humid weather, was nice to have a cool run!πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
Welcome back hotheels and good luck with your quest to reach 5K. It wonβt take you long to get to Parkrun, and itβs so much easier with people to follow . πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπββοΈππΆββοΈπ π (a shame the hot heels are going in the wrong direction)
I find that I run faster on the treadmill than outdoors....so, will see how the next few weeks go and whether my pace gradually gets better.....I've never even seen a park run so dont quite know what to expect.....but, as C25k is all about breaking barriers, I'm keen to give it my best shot π
Just remember that Parkrun is a run , not a race although people are trying to better their own times. But there will be people walking, some running with dogs or pushchairs. And you can never be last.
Its probably what I need...to connect with other local runners.....as it's all getting a bit too much for my husband now......as he thinks I've lost the plot with all this running.....lol!!!!πππ€£π€£π€£
Gaz!!! π I've been following your progress.....can't comment on your posts as I'm still too chicken to join the B210 community......
You've been doing so well......keep it up, mate!!!
Yes....I'm back.....it's lovely to be back and running outdoors. Now that I'm back on home turf....I'm hoping I can get a few 5ks under my belt before working out what's next...π
Nothing wrong with the B210k forum, slightly different vibe to this one but still inclusive and supportive. Anyhow, good to have you back, enjoy the hills and the wildlife! πππ¦π°πΏ
Oh I couldnt agree with you more, Mike!!! π B210k seems just as lovely as C25k, but I find some of the post discussions a bit daunting, so figured I'm not yet ready to join. Hopefully in time.....!!!π
I was chicken too Hotheels, but itβs just as great as C25K! So dive in girl! Itβs not a commitment to run 10k, itβs a Bridge as long or short as you want it to be. Iβm in training to βdo my best 5kβ at my Charity run on Saturday at the moment. Though I do have a 7.5k in my programme tomorrow. I think itβs about building endurance, so Iβm faster at 5k. π³ Iβm quite looking forward to it. Though Iβm not sure how Iβll do it, Iβll certainly be giving it my best shot! See you on the Bridge! π β€οΈ
