So decided to do Parkrun today to do the twenty minute run - did the warm up walk before the start and then ran until about 30 secs after Michael Johnson said two mins to go - walked til he said twenty minutes were up then ran the rest of the way - got time through of 25.37 - seems unbelievably fast - will need to go and do it again next week to make sure - knocked 15 mins of previous best time but that was a while ago - hope they have it right - strava didn’t work properly cos of trees so doubting myself. Dropped my bar code but someone handed it in so I got it to scan at end but what if someone already scanned it and my time is wrong. Have ordered a wrist band so I cant drop it again.
Can’t be right can it : So decided to do Parkrun... - Couch to 5K
Can’t be right can it
Well done sounds like you did really well. Did you scan it at the end? Wouldn’t it have shown it had already been scanned to finish? I think you did it. Good luck on your next run. I hope it’s just as good as this one.
I did get end of run token at the right time then scanned it with my barcode after I had got that back - will find out next week I suppose ( when Im back to 40 mins🙁)
Oh my gosh! 25:37 now? Keep going... you can certainly lower that by a couple/few minutes.
I don’t think anyone would have scanned your barcode, why would they? Be proud I think you’ve done it alright. Even if Strava didn’t track properly because of trees the time should be ok, what did it say?
Well do you know roughly how far round the course you were when Michael said 20 minutes and you started to run again? You ran for 18 minutes then took a walk break: was your second run shorter than your first one? It seems to me that if you’re on week 5, 20 minute run, and you’ve stopped to walk for a short time after 18, it’s unlikely you would then run another 18 without wanting to walk again. I think it’s far more likely that you were running much faster than usual and that’s why you needed the wee break - and the reason you could run the rest without another break was because it was only 5 or 6 minutes. But I wasn’t there - does that sound plausible to you? It would make your time correct, remarkable as it seems. Timing errors do happen at parkruns but unless the finish tokens were completely in the wrong order (in which case people whose Strava didn’t bail will be emailing them already) an error of 15 minutes isn’t going to happen.
I was one lap round when he said ten minutes and then just about at start line at twenty minutes - it is two laps and a wee bit - probably five minutes so probably is right - just much better than I expected.
Well that’s clear cut then isn’t it. One lap in ten minutes, just under two laps in twenty minutes, total is two and a bit laps, you do the maths That fantastic time really is yours. Very well done.
