i use a fit bit Alta hr tracker. I mentioned to another user that my heart rate stays in the peak for all if run about 40 mins. Is this ok?

I have been running since April so still not very fit but can run slowly for 30 mins. I did a park run on Saturday and afterwards saw I was in peak for whole run. I’m worried I may damage my heart. Are there any experts who know about heart rates who can advise me please?

As soon as folk get these flipping heart rate things they get the jitters at the results.

I don’t wear one 😁

I have no idea but someone will 😃👍

I have an old fashioned step counter that gives me steps, aerobic steps (?), distance and calories used - quite enough!

Are you dead? No? Ok, it was fine!

Tracker needs a lot more information than we give them to work out max heart rate, they’re a rough guide at best.

Unless you have established your actual maximum heart rate, then your monitor is working on averages, which are worked out using somewhat simplistic formulae.

You may not be in the peak zone at all and if you can run for forty minutes without feeling any ill effects then you almost certainly are not.

A couple of years ago I could run for over an hour with my HR in the mid 150s, when at the time the formula suggested my max HR was 159........ I am still here.

If you are going to use a HRM then please do some research so that you understand the information it is giving you. This is a start en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hea...

I do 5 k jogs but I can’t do them without stopping for walks after about 20 mins. I don’t find it easy by any means 😄. My face is also like a tomato for a long time and I’m puffed out
