I'm on week 7 and really enjoying it I've also been thinking what to do after I graduate and my aim is to complete our local 5k park run . Sounds ok but it is a bloomin nightmare if anyone has done the barnsley park run they will understand . 3 laps of the park with hills not just little inclines but hills ,Well they are to me 😂 . So my plan of action once I've graduated is to tackle the hills in stages I avoid them like the plague at the minute just looking at them when I jog past on the flattest parts I can find gives me cold shivers .
So one day I hope to be able to run the whole route 🙏

Well, after graduation, doing some speed work on the hills will increase your speed and stamina together... other options would include finding a flatter parkrun to do first... I live the other side of woodhead, and we have hills, but also some flattish parkruns.
I haven’t been to my local one (glossop), fear of not being able to do it and people that I know seeing it. I go to one near where work takes me... in between is a really hilly village (Marple) with a park on one of the hills... strangely it’s a really flat park... that will be my first parkrun full running. So there are some flat ones out there even if it doesn’t appear there are. My family are from Wombwell so I’ll be doing your local ones at some point.
Yeah, I’ll be sure to give you a shout... would be great to run with you and others that have been through this. Maybe us lot can organise some meet ups for a parkrun, coffee and a laugh... we’ve been through a lot together.
On the home page for each parkrun there are links to all the other parkruns within 20 miles of there so you can browse the course descriptions and choose the one that suits you best.
