Fabulous! You definitely deserve that gift! I’m going to pop one in my Amazon shopping bag all ready to check out on my graduation day (not quite there yet!)

Well done you! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜€πŸ†πŸ…πŸ‘πŸ»

Now you can be all analytical like the rest of us watch-watchers. Don't get too frustrated as you learn it's foibles, I learned that with a Garmin you need to take one step at a time (sound familiar?).

Ooh let me know if you have any tips!

Got one myself last week. The amount of stats it gives you is insane, and I've become obsessed with pace, which I never used to care about.

Yep, defo! I'm definitely into my stats and tech, so as soon as I knew I was into this running malarky I knew I'd get one. πŸ‘

I started with a Forerunner 10 and worked up :)

Kind husband treated me.. when I reached running milestones:)

I've got one of those! Absolutely love it 😍 said I'd only wear it for running but never take it off. Actually can't take it off now as the tan line is immense πŸ˜‚

Haha, yeah they're quite big aren't they? The face pretty much takes up my whole arm!

I'll probably wear mine all the time as well, so far I like to check in on my heart rate every now and then, and I liked my sleep stats too. Looks like I could need more deep sleep 😴

ps...I play the piano too! 🎹

Cool what sort of stuff do you like to play?

Mine sometimes logs practise as moderate exercise which I'm willing to take πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Little-runner profile image
Little-runnerGraduate in reply to pianoteacher

I play classical, I passed grade 8 a few years ago and was working towards a diploma, but life got to busy and I couldn't commit to the amount of practice, so I'm not having lessons at the moment. 😞

Haha, that's amazing it logs your practise...I guess you're burning calories so it all adds up!

That's great! Diplomas do take up a lot of time to work for. I did ARSM clarinet back in March and was practising 2+hours a day. Supposed to be working on dipABRSM now but clarinet is physically much harder work than piano and the heat is putting me off ☹️

Little-runner profile image
Little-runnerGraduate in reply to pianoteacher

Yep they sure do, and working full time with a 2 hour commute does't help! I used to play clarinet too back in my school days....I can see why you're not so keen in the heat with all that huffing and puffing! πŸ˜‰

Hey Mandy, may I ask what you didn't like about it, and what is it about the Apple watch that is better? For me I was driven by cost at this stage and didn't want to spend too much.

Congrats .. now it will keep you hooked to your running ... even after run is over .. with all those data and charts 😊😊

Little-runner profile image
Little-runnerGraduate in reply to Grimreaper

Thanks Grimreaper! I definitely love a stat! I've got no idea what all the heart rate stuff means with the zones and whatnot, so have some reading up to do! πŸ€“

You fall in love with running twice .. once when you run and again when you start analysing your body performance with numbers .. it’s feel so amazing how our body actually responds to run πŸ‘πŸ‘

Enjoy!

Please don't get too hung up on loads of metrics and data. Enjoy your running and don't let the pressure of "I must run further or faster" turn this wonderful, life-changing hobby into a drudge.

Little-runner profile image
Little-runnerGraduate in reply to MarkyD

Thanks for the advice Marky. The main reason for buying the watch is now I'm not using the app anymore to guide and time my runs, it's so I can keep an eye on my distance (so I don't run too far!). I'm very aware that it's still early days in my running life so it's more of a tool to reign me in as I have been known to get carried away in the moment. And especially because I run in different places and different routes all the time, I know exactly how far I've got to go.

I was hooked with running from the get-go and I always look forward to run days with a childish excitement...I can't see it becoming a drudge at all! πŸ˜‰
