Hi Rulla - although I think the exercise might speed up the metabolism a wee bit, in itself it's not going to lead to weight loss. It has to be combined with changes to diet.

With ice cream in the freezer, heat and terrible will power I have lost the grand total of 2kg (am on W8!).

Most people seem to find just what you are saying: they don’t lose much weight at first (unless they are dieting too) but they do get fitter and healthier in other ways.

I think that is because the runs are quite short and don’t burn off many calories. As you get stronger and are able to sustain longer runs than the ones in this programme then that may help more with weight loss. It will be a few months till you are at that point though.

Meantime, healthy eating, and low impact exercise like walking or swimming on non-running days, will help :)

Hi Rulla, I did loose weight but that is more to do with the fact that I am classed as morbidly obese (such a horrid word 🤬) and although in the grand scheme of things the runs we do on C25k are relatively small in regards to burning calories, any calories burnt as opposed to none obviously went in my favour. That said I did tie in a healthier diet along with the running. I’ve lost about 10kg in the last 3/4 months and now feel a bit more empowered to do more to help me loose weight but not sure it would have been so much if a) I wasn’t already so overweight and b) if I hadn’t changed my diet.

I know everyone is different but I hope you get from this what you need xx

Diet contributes a lot more than exercise.

Bet the inches probably coming off though. I always tell myself as long as I am not gaining then I can work through this. So kudos you got started.
