I have a foam roller, but I have developed quite a problem with my foot and outside of my leg. I think I have extremely tight peroneal tendons from when I tore all the ligaments in my foot several years ago. I have been on you tube and have peroneal stretches, but I am also trying to rub the muscles but can't get my leg in a position where it remains relaxed and in position to massage. I have seen a hand held on Amazon but any suggestions will be welcome.
Thanks

My wife has plantar fasciitis. I wonder if any of the things you can do to that might help you with the foot part? Roll a golf ball or a thin bottle of frozen water under it to massage and cool it. don’t know if it would help, depends where on the foot your pain is, but to be honest, it feels nice even if you’ve just been on your feet all day.
As for roller, I bought a foam filler set from decathlon. The main tube has caps on the ends and inside it holds a spiked ball and a two handed roller which consists of 3 hard plastic spiky balls which roll independently of each other. I get a knot in the outside of my right calf and find it helps there. My belly is bigger than my arms are long and I’m not super flexible so the only way I can reach the bottom of my calf two handed with the muscle still relaxed is to shuffle my butt right back against the headboard, then I can get my knee up and my foot flat on the bed without tensing the calf.
