Couldn’t decide whether to run this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Figured if I ran now I could have a drink or three tonight.
Had to wait for a storm to pass - lightning and everything.
After the inevitable early head gremlins, this was probably the calmest run I’ve had. Deliberately went off slowly and again avoided the ragged breath. Paul Weller’s Desert Island Disks for company.
Close encounter on the way back with a pedestrian who crossed the road to walk in front of me and heading the way I was going. He was carrying a box for a large cat (like Tiger sized) and the pavement is narrow with lampposts and parked cars. Had to speed up to get past him then felt I needed to keep going that speed to get away/not be overtaken.
Upshot, my fastest km times - average 8:58mins/k with the second and last km splits being identical. Chuffed with that.
Hot and sweaty. Long bath, cold beer, left over Jerk chicken to reheat for an easy tea. All is good with the world.
Enjoy your next run, whatever it is x

Oooh sounds great! My morning run means I’ve earned my curry tonight. Oh and a little hungover! Who said you can’t run after a few drinks?? 😬😬😬 Enjoy your evening. 🍻
Sounds like an excellent run, barring pedestrians 😂. Well done bud 👍
We’ve just had a thunderstorm here too. Now I’m thinking of bringing Monday’s run forward to tomorrow as it’s looking nice & cool tomorrow and v hot on Monday. I did have a rest day yesterday before I get told off haha.
Ooh nice. I’ve only got one beer in so I’m looking at raiding the spirits myself. Jim Beam and Pepsi max (poor man’s make do JD & Coke) might feature. I can already feel the hangover.
Well done! Sounds like a great run apart from having to dodge the pedestrian carrying the tiger 🐅 🐯 not only can you enjoy your drinks but can now sleep them off in the morning too! 😃
Ahhh! Yes. I didn’t come away liking him very much as a person.
I remember The Jam folding and I blamed him, but I loved quite a lot of the Style Council stuff, so grudgingly forgave him.
Suggs next.
Ha ha! I like early evening runs, because on return I throw together a quick dinner, which I have with a glass or two of red wine, and maybe a gin later. Did so today, and just enjoying an amazing after-dinner violet-flavoured gin from Eccentric (Caerphilly) with mint, a hint of lemon juice and San Pellegrino (great for calcium and magnesium) - bliss
Steak pie and dauphinoise potatoes with greens this end. Run tomorrow so going canny tonight. A couple of Morgans, for medicinal purposes, may be required though. 🥃
Fantastic Jay - well done. No storms here in West Kent - shame coz I love a good storm. Hoping to do W9R1 tomorrow- my head isn't good today but I'm hoping I'll be up to it tomorrow. Wouldn't mind your recipe for jerk chicken at some point if you don't mind sharing. Keep on running
Yeah it was fine. I’m a lightweight these days. I’ve switched to 330ml bottles or cans of craft beer and tend to only have one, then had one JB and Pepsi on top.
A clear sign running is helping me manage stress better.
I had an open invitation from my wife to have a drink last night and tonight but I haven’t bothered. Before C25k I would drink heavily every weekend. I feel a lot better for it too.
