Couldn’t decide whether to run this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Figured if I ran now I could have a drink or three tonight.

Had to wait for a storm to pass - lightning and everything.

After the inevitable early head gremlins, this was probably the calmest run I’ve had. Deliberately went off slowly and again avoided the ragged breath. Paul Weller’s Desert Island Disks for company.

Close encounter on the way back with a pedestrian who crossed the road to walk in front of me and heading the way I was going. He was carrying a box for a large cat (like Tiger sized) and the pavement is narrow with lampposts and parked cars. Had to speed up to get past him then felt I needed to keep going that speed to get away/not be overtaken.

Upshot, my fastest km times - average 8:58mins/k with the second and last km splits being identical. Chuffed with that.

Hot and sweaty. Long bath, cold beer, left over Jerk chicken to reheat for an easy tea. All is good with the world.

Enjoy your next run, whatever it is x

Great work Jay, well done you. Pedestrians can be a bit of a problem around here too 😕

Glad you got through it so well and your times are impressive. 👍

Good to see Jerk Chicken is still on the menu!

I had lamb and mushroom pie and mash, washed down with a pint of Fuller’s finest bitter. 😋

Oooh sounds great! My morning run means I’ve earned my curry tonight. Oh and a little hungover! Who said you can’t run after a few drinks?? 😬😬😬 Enjoy your evening. 🍻

Sounds like an excellent run, barring pedestrians 😂. Well done bud 👍

We’ve just had a thunderstorm here too. Now I’m thinking of bringing Monday’s run forward to tomorrow as it’s looking nice & cool tomorrow and v hot on Monday. I did have a rest day yesterday before I get told off haha.

Enjoy the beer! Just quaffing a rhubarb gin - yummy 😋

Ooh nice. I’ve only got one beer in so I’m looking at raiding the spirits myself. Jim Beam and Pepsi max (poor man’s make do JD & Coke) might feature. I can already feel the hangover.

Lovely run

Have to say, I am liking the cooler/drizzly/rainy weather

Also have settled down with a gin :)

It was lovely and fresh after the rain - like being somewhere hot on holiday.

Well done! Sounds like a great run apart from having to dodge the pedestrian carrying the tiger 🐅 🐯 not only can you enjoy your drinks but can now sleep them off in the morning too! 😃

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply toBridget007

To be fair, he was just carrying a box big enough for a tiger. There wasn’t an actual tiger. Sadly. I would’ve been much faster!

Ahhh! Yes. I didn’t come away liking him very much as a person.

I remember The Jam folding and I blamed him, but I loved quite a lot of the Style Council stuff, so grudgingly forgave him.

Suggs next.

Ha ha! I like early evening runs, because on return I throw together a quick dinner, which I have with a glass or two of red wine, and maybe a gin later. Did so today, and just enjoying an amazing after-dinner violet-flavoured gin from Eccentric (Caerphilly) with mint, a hint of lemon juice and San Pellegrino (great for calcium and magnesium) - bliss :)

Sounds like a nice run! I feel like I've run a marathon. 14500 steps round Leeds university open day. Probably not going to run till Monday 😄

That drink I was on about yesterday turned into tonight with something I've never drunk "prossecco" it's alright too 😉

2nd bottle though but I'm sharing unfortunately 🤣😉😊

Thanks!

Quite partial to prosecco, especially as I can rarely afford champagne. In fact, there’s a bottle under the stairs....

its 4.30pm here, hmmm .... Beer o'clock!!

Steak pie and dauphinoise potatoes with greens this end. Run tomorrow so going canny tonight. A couple of Morgans, for medicinal purposes, may be required though. 🥃

Fantastic Jay - well done. No storms here in West Kent - shame coz I love a good storm. Hoping to do W9R1 tomorrow- my head isn't good today but I'm hoping I'll be up to it tomorrow. Wouldn't mind your recipe for jerk chicken at some point if you don't mind sharing. Keep on running

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to

Good luck tomorrow - bad head days are best avoided!

I cheat with the jerk chicken and buy a Levi Roots recipe box - a rub and marinade for the chicken and a seasoning for the rice. Easy and delicious.

in reply toJay66UK

Sounds fab - I might google it.

Paul Weller on Desert Island Disks? Rock n Roll! 😂Sounds like a nice run. PBs, calmness and ‘near runner objects’ avoided.

Then a great reward for your hard work! 🍺🍸

I know my reply’s a bit late. Hope your head was ok this morning!

Jay66UK profile image
Jay66UKGraduate in reply to_SimonT_

Yeah it was fine. I’m a lightweight these days. I’ve switched to 330ml bottles or cans of craft beer and tend to only have one, then had one JB and Pepsi on top.

A clear sign running is helping me manage stress better.

_SimonT_ profile image
_SimonT_Graduate in reply toJay66UK

I had an open invitation from my wife to have a drink last night and tonight but I haven’t bothered. Before C25k I would drink heavily every weekend. I feel a lot better for it too.
