Breathe normally. Like you normally do. Don't fret about any special technique.

If you're really gasping and puffing that just says you're working too hard. Slow down. And then some more. Wave at the snails as they pass you. If you're aware of your breathing it's always because you're working too hard.

I promise you, it gets easier and gets easier really fast. Slow down and don't fret!! :-)

Hi, l really struggled with my breathing for weeks. I listened to the advice on the programme as you run, about taking deep breath in and letting out slowly. I did this while running and walking. I tried to time it with so many steps. It was really hard at first, l would manage the deep breath in and out , but then gasp a short breath. You have to persevere, it does work but takes lots of practice and weeks to master. Good luck 👍

Personally I breathe in through my mouth and out through my nose.

Personally I just breathe. Been doing it for years. Seems to be working so far :-)

Please read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which explains about an easy conversational pace, at which you can clearly and ungaspingly converse. If you are panting, you are going too fast.

There is also other advice in the guide about breathing.

Slow down until you can breathe even if it's really really slow! It works!

My breathing sorted itself out when I got to the 8 minute runs, or thereabouts.
