Are we really here?

Tomorrow (Thursday) will be our last in week 8. At the start we never thought we would get this far. So much so that we repeated week one three times. But we decided that we were only cheating ourselves and look at us now! 28 minutes and actually already doing the 30, feeling good and can't wait to graduate so we can get back to the couch! (just kidding.. )

But this last week I have discovered what no doubt others could have told me if I had asked. If you have a run buddy, make sure you run at roughly the same pace. I have been running with my lovely lady all the way through and as I am 6ft and she is 5'2", we run at a different pace.

Anyhoo, this week I started with her and then left her behind as I decided to go at a pace I felt more comfortable instead of shuffling along beside her. What did I discover? Well, I can drop from a pace of 7:30 per K to around 6:30. But at a penalty. I have done the course at an artificially slow rate and my breathing is geared to that speed. I am getting puffed.

But onwards and upwards. A few days running at my pace with help improve my shortness of breath, just as the course has improved my overall fitness.

Well done. The finish line is in sight now. I remember the elation of finishing that final run of week 9 very well. Since then I have gone on to 10k, which I didn't believe possible, and joined a club, which is great if you want to run with others :)
