Suitable rest days?

As my last post, I am a new runner having recently completed week one, now onto two!

What do people suggest when it comes to rest days? For my first week, I normally have 2 or 3 days between runs. My last run was Tuesday night, however I’m feeling fine, is a one day rest to quick?

Welcome to the programme and congratulations on completing the first week.

I generally take two rest days after completing a week.

When talking about rest days, it means a rest from running, so you are free to do any other exercise you like, but keep it low impact. Such as swimming, cycling, cross trainer, etc.

You may well benefit from some upper body work and improving core strength.

Well done on completing week 1

I’m starting my W5 tomorrow. I take 2 days break from running before starting the new week, but keep doing my stretches and specially keep focus on keeping myself hydrated. I found it helpful during the week when I’m running.

I take a one day rest day between running but do weights/strength exercises between. Been ok with that...so far. Good luck with your journey. 😊

Please check this post out..it has tried and tested advice for all new runners. Most subjects are covered here:)

At least one rest day between runs in non-negotiable.. and take more if you feel you need to, although that should generally not be necessary:)

Rest day exercise is also a plan..no i.pact.. and core strength and stamina exercise become more and more important as the runs get longer..

Take it slow and steady and keep posting for great support and advice..:)
