Hi

I completed the couch to 5k app in March and having been running 5k three times a week. My pace seems to be all over the place though looking at the graph. My husbands is more consistent. Any advice..

Hi C25kH, Well done on your 5k three times a week. Impressive! Hope I manage that one day. I am intrigued by your graphs, but can not be of any help. A few questions though. What device gave you these graphs and what are the units for pace? Are they km/hour?

Thank you!

I use Runkeeper. Yes they are km/hour.

I'm not an expert but I sent the picture to NASA. The rocket scientists there reckon you're going slower uphill.

Your erratic pace almost perfectly matches the erratic gradient.......say no more.

I run with a lot of hills and it is very common for your pace to fluctuate while running up and down. My favourite run finishes with two outdoor flights of stairs and my pace drops and my heart rate goes up. Over time that hasent changed that much so I just monitor my progress by the fact the runs do that. When we start off things like slight inclines and hills make our pace vary. I remember learning to ride a bike round where I live and I then realised how many little hills there are around me, sitting In The car they hadent registered. Your body will adjust and in time the pace might flatten out a bit but your two graphs match perfectly if they were put on top of each other so I wouldn’t worry, that is to be expected.
