Piriformis syndrome

Anyone else had this and can give advice to speed recovery up?

I did my last run of week two on friday and felt pain in my lower back. I am running a bit more than the app is telling me too, doing a couple of extra runs to enable me to do 5 or 6k.

I went out on Sunday and the pain was there from the start but eased when I was running. I added another 3min run at the end but ended up running for 8mins as I was enjoying it. Could hardly walk afterwards.

I've done a bit of research and think this is what I am suffering from. Foolishly I have been slack on stretching before and after runs and think this has been my downfall. I'm gutted as I know I will have to stop running until it gets better. I'm doing exercises to help recovery and wonder if anyone can give me some other advice? Thanks for reading.

Stretching after each and every run is essential as you now know:) There is no fast healing method..but the exercises can help...

The injury can feel better if you run but you shouldn't...I used these and others after a trapped sciatic nerve... impacted on the Piriformis ( not running related though... small granddaughter lifting related) )... I was on the IC for a long time!

And.. for future reference.. stick to just running what you are asked to do :) slowly!

I do have a link for a squat exercise which may help if you find things are not improving.
