Blimey, with the windchill, it felt more like Winter than Spring.....ideal running conditions then 🤗
A lot of people there, all struggling to keep warm. I needed the loo, as I do when it’s chilly, but there was one hell of a queue.....couldn’t believe there was only 12 Portaloos serving at least 2000 people.....thank goodness for my medical urgency card, comes in handy at times like these 🤗
After an organised warm up we took our place at the starting queue. We set off and after the first 2K I’d got into a rhythm before joining the backend of a bottle neck queue....most didn’t want run through it and I heard one lady shout ‘Oh no, these are new trainers’...... they are washable love 🙄😂
We got through that before meeting the first hill at 3kish, I was feeling good up to that point but the hill had other ideas, that really did take its toll on the old legs! Still, what goes up, must come down so a bit of respite for a bit. There was one more steep climb to come plus a uphill finish.
I looked at my watch and it said 7.2k 😳 Where’s the finish then?? It turned out to be 7.4k, I should’ve read the race pack properly 🙄
I completed the course in 52’38” not bad after my injury 😊
What a atmosphere, I love these fun runs because....they’re fun 🤗
I look on this as a good hard run prior to the Town & Gown 10k in 2 weeks 🏃🏃
Happy running guys 🏃♀️🏃🏃♀️🏃
