Extreme example this, but this time last year my wife had never run and took one of the kids down to watch her sister run the London Marathon.
Inspired she applied for a place via the ballot, knowing she was unlikely to get one. Of course the unexpected happened and she got a place, and used C25K to get her up and running.
Yesterday she finished one of the hottest marathons in years, and was still running on the last km.
I’m not suggesting anyone doing C25K should aim to run a marathon within a year (she used a run walk run strategy and was very careful to plan her approach to match her fitness) but I think it goes to show that C25K can be the start of a running journey that can take you to places you never thought possible before.
Happy running 🏃♀️

There are a couple of sister forums on here for those hungry for more mile, the bridge to 10k and Marathon running and Race support.
We all run for different reasons. For some of us we want to see how fast we can go, for others it is how far. And for the rest it is just the joy of getting out there and having a little bit of run time.
Quite a few here have gone from couch to marathon. Not directly of course but via the usual stepping stones of C25k, C25k+, Bridge to 10k programmes, the half marathons before taking the ultimate step. Even then we’re not done, and some are training for ultras. Triathlons etc too
