For those of you who use fancy gadgets, what's your average speed in the late weeks? 25mins plus?
Average speed in the longer runs?: For those of... - Couch to 5K
Average speed in the longer runs?
I don't think there would be enough space here for replies All different and all moving to our own beat... Just finding a happy and sustainable pace for the lovely longer runs is the thing... and enjoying
For sure -
I'm curious to see if my phone is correct, as it has an inbuilt app which automatically detects runs and measures them (I didn't even know, somebody mentioned it here). Most people here say they don't reach 5k in 30 mins
They don't and we have had surveys which prove it... many of our most awesome runners here have run half marathons and marathons and have never done 5K in 30 minutes... I think I have only done a few since Graduation...
It is, for many of us, just about running... and the need for distance or speed seems irrelevant.. unless you are in a race or running from a wild animal
Maybe use Strava.. that will give you some great info
I know of C25k graduates who run at 5mins/k while others run at 15mins/k. We have participants of all ages, all genders and many degrees of ability and disability.
It is best just to compare yourself to yourself....... especially to the old couch bound you. C25K is about building stamina, not pace.
Relax, you are doing great.
Fair enough
I think my phone might be overestimating me -I run with my 8 year-old son and I feel we are comfortably slow and our method is we really speed up in the last 3mins
And by the way we did W9R1 today! I'm so happy. I have signed up for a 5k charity run in two weeks...eeeek
You need a gps app to measure distance and pace. In built programmes (usually) assess number of steps assuming an average stride, and give therefore an estimated distance.
