You know the saying - how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time...

Bit like my running journey, how do I become a runner? One run at a time.

Every time I don trainers I cannot quite believe I run, think back to September shiny clean new shoes and a shiny face after a hard 1min run! Each run I do reminds me that I have no end goal I just run because I can if you’re new to this and are reading all the forum posts you will have seen how much of a mind game this is more so than physical sometimes. I have a friend who is always on a diet, she lives a life of ‘sins’ and self denial she will always be ‘dieting’. I often ask her what she wil do when at her goal weight - has she changed her attitude to food? The way you eat is a habit, healthy or otherwise. Running for me is beginning to be a habit at last. I dont have a diet attitude to running if I did I’d have to start couch to 5k every 3 months or so. One run at a time, I meal at a time keeps me a slim runner.

Well that sounded rather pompous didn’t it? So to bring me down to earth i spoke to other people (OP) at park run (I’m usually a very happy solo runner) yesterday

Me 8th park run and proud OP this is my 161st

Me 40mins OP 17 mins

Me alone OP pushing double buggies

So there will always be faster, slimmer, prettier, younger,OP out there but this is my elephant not theirs 😁

I ran my 126th parkrun this past Saturday - at age 71 on a "still not healed" fractured foot -- and I did it at an average pace of 144 beats of my heart per minute!!!
