Consolidation run - getting sore πŸ€”

After the elation of the Parks Run my hips and thighs are aching/sore after 5k run this evening - not sure if body is protesting after pounding the pavements or if it’s just the cumulative effect of the increased distances.

Extra rest days or shorten distance on next run? (Or man up) would like to be fit for another PR on Saturday πŸ€”

If you have moved through C25k at normal pace, then you have been increasing your body's workload week on week for nearly three months. There is nothing wrong with having an extra day or two rest days, allowing your body to recover and recuperate and probably find yourself returning refreshed and revitalised...............that's a lot of re words!!

It is reckoned to be a good idea to have a total break from running every few months. Many of my PBs have arrived out of the blue after a week's break from running.

I vote for an extra rest day as well.

Rest up a tad... :) Also, maybe up your stamina and core strength exercise on rest days too..

I know that because of the bad weather, I had to do more road running and did feel it a tad in the hips.. so I have upped my rest day routines:)

Lots out there.. and maybe think Rignold 's squats?

I use this routine regularly...

Pavement pounding can have a real impact, is there any chance of an off road route. varying your routes can be helpful. Hope this helps:)

Massage! Massage roller plus hot bath.

I find yoga poses great for flexibility and easing some of the hard to get to areas.

But certainly rest is not going to do you any harm and there's still 3 days before Sat! 😁

Not what you're looking for?
