Breathing
Assuming that you have now got a relaxed preparation routine for you, hydration, food or little food before your run, quality sleep,warm- up exercises etc.,
When you start your warm up walk you should already be practising and reminding yourself of your running form / posture.etc.
Your shoulders should be down , head up , no tension anywhere , so you can take in the extra oxygen you require to run.
Run slow and steady and keep reminding yourself, stay focused until with practise it will be natural.
If you know and have practiced the belly breathing technique and can use it, do that.I do not think that will be the case , because you would not be having problems.
Stay positive and enjoy.
Slow & steady that is your handbrake.
Both feet gently leaving the ground and kissing the ground.
Your brain is working and thinking just as much as your slow pace.
Remember this a training run and you need the time to think about this stuff. Another reason you take it slow and until you get through the first phase and you find your rhythm.
Exhale also the CO2.π€
KIS it.Do not stress and keep tension free.Enjoy.πππ
Believe and have no fear.πππ
Just do it, like you do every single second of the day... if you are struggling the answer is.. slow down. Simple as that
It is a bit like blinking... we don't think about it.. we just do it.. but the minute we think about it... there.. got you.. you blinked
Just relax and take it very very gently
Slow down.
If you can't breathe, you are going too fast.
You should be able to converse in a clear ungasping manner........that is what defines the easy conversational pace at which all C25kers are advised to run the programme.
Have you read the guide to the plan? healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which covers this.
I was finding this difficult to start with, especially the rhythmic breathing that I kept reading about, I also found written or verbal instructions hard to translate into actually doing it. It wasn't until week 6 that I felt my breathing settled.
I eventually found 2 videos on YouTube that demonstrated a couple of ways to breathe, I would look on there so you can get an idea. The videos I looked at were posted by "Matt cama 2" and "Kristin Jerome" - definitely helped my understanding.
I couldn't get the hang of it without disrupting my rhythm so I simply now breath normally through my mouth and from time to time I do deep breathes through my nose just to ensure I'm getting sufficient oxygen.
Slow down. Boring but it will work.
The best advice I was given was to, slow down, relax ( shoulders down & relaxed made all of me relax) and stop thinking about breathing. Somewhere about W4 it sorted itself out. It will for you to if you go slow enough. π
