Repeat W4Run2

Am doing week 4 again as I feel that I am not ready yet for week 5. My breathing pace still a bit of a struggle when running and I thought I should be able to breathe easy in order to run W5. On top of it I start to have this poking pain on my left shin. It’s so annoying!

Did anyone have/had the same experience? Repeating your week 4 until you feel confident enough to move up to the next level?

I just completed week 4 yesterday and have a pain in my left knee and right hip! But it’s not too bad and I think with a couple days rest I will be ready to tackle week 5. It seems like some people like to repeat a week and I think that is entirely sensible as you are listening to yourself and taking things at your own pace. You will get there! 😀

Folk do repeat if they feel the need...but try not to keep on repeating the same run... rather slow right down; slower than you could imagine...

Breathe every gently, just as you do each and every second... relax if you can :)

Warm up really well... and maybe some dynamic stretches before the run may help..and the stretches after the run are essential!

Try also, to land lightly..I call it, kissing the ground with your feet... :) We do have a tendency to thump down a little hard in these early days:)

Nothing wrong with repeating a week (I repeated several due to illness breaks!). But, in general, you can trust the program. Each week builds gently on the one before. Just go with the flow of each run, keeping it nice and slow, and you’ll be amazed what your body can do.

Hi Humphries. I recently tried to go from week 3 to 4 and found it tough so dropped back and did week 3 again/ the pain in my calf was still there but was bearable. ~I then did a couple of the "strength and flexibility" podcasts and that helped! I learned how to stretch properly and Week 4 was a bit easier after that. give it a go - the two podcasts can be done side by side. Are you running on the flat or on slopes? I was running around Coombes Hill and that was a bad idea so now i use canal towpaths - much better!

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am running on flat and slopes.

Canal towpaths sounds like a great idea.
