I’m a first-time runner trying to lose weight and tone up for my daughter’s wedding in June. I can’t believe I’ve made it to week 5 already, but am dreading the 20 minute non-stop run tomorrow. Hoping that all the tips I’ve learned along the way will help (enjoying it may be difficult, though!).
Hello, I’m new!: I’m a first-time runner trying... - Couch to 5K
Hello, I’m new!
Very, very well done... Week 5...wow! Heading towards the longer runs
Keep it slow and keep it steady...just try very hard to relax into the runs...you are ready for them... I posted a while back about believing in yourself...you can do this.. look how far you have come The last paragraph in my post..
"So please, try, those of you who are struggling, to replace the apprehension with excitement… lose the worry and find the wonder…dismiss the dread and discover the delight…and know that, like the secret hidden inside a conker shell… it is all there…the strength inside yourself."
Fantastic- you are doing really well. 😄
I combine slimming world with C25K and that works well for me-I am sure any healthy eating system combined with exercise would do the same.
Go very slowly and relaxed , ( as slowly as you need to go, lots of people just run at a brisk walking pace). I find it helps to think about relaxing my shoulders and going along gently. I also break up the time in my mind to smaller sections, e.g. I might think about 5 minutes at a time - not the whole 20 at one go.
I am new to running at the age of 58 - and I am "wowed" by the positive impact it has on my life.
Enjoy your journey. Let us know how you get on so we can cheer for you! 😀
