Hi Patty & welcome. Have you tried the C25K program? You say that you hate running. I had spent all my adult life believing that I hated running and couldn't do it until I met this program. I now can't wait to get out in my running shoes!

Download the podcast and let the voice of Laura take you on an amazing journey.

Good luck & let us know how you get on so we can cheer for you! 😄

I run by myself. If I run with someone at their slow pace, it may be too fast for me. At this moment I prefer to run alone. Once I am more experienced I may do park runs. I’m just taking it one run at a time. I use the podcast to run with, so I never really feel alone with Laura chatting in my ear.

I started in a c25k running group where we did one session a week together and the other runs solo. After the c25k I have run mostly solo except when hubs has joined me (he is injured still). Only recently, after 18 months of running, have I plucked up the courage to join a group. I run parkrun with them but have yet to get out on an evening run.

I prefer running on my own unless I'm racing, because I'm childishly competitive and know that I'll kill myself trying to keep up with quicker runners than me, or be a terrible person and smugly outrun slower runners than me - so running on my own means I don't have to confront my own unpleasantness so directly 😉.

Saying that, lots of my less beastly friends really enjoy running with a group and find it really motivating.

Either way, the support here is fab.
