I'm not afraid of the cold!.......Well.. maybe still a little...

Yesterday I completed week 5 run 2 and I am so chuffed with myself! It was tough but I managed it, plus it was 0° outside!! Never in million years did I expect that I would be able to run for 16 minutes let alone in the freezing weather as I definitely do not like being cold at all!

I'm scheduled to do my third run of week 5 tomorrow. Might have to give it a miss though as it seems like it's going to be icey...tempted though to go to the gym instead so I don't miss out on any runs!!

Well done to you. This running thing changes us in ways we wouldn't have believed earlier.

You're right about not running on the ice, it's not worth it. Wait until it clears or head for the treadmill. Enjoy 🤗

Thank you! Genuinely can't believe I've got this far! I'm very determined now, definitely gonna do my best with every run, gonna hit the treadmill tomorrow for my 20 min run eek! Looking forward to it!

Well done! If it's very bad weather then yes, keep to your running schedule but head indoors. I used to find that mixing outdoor & indoor runs was a good way to get the best of both worlds anyway, as you can go for a bit of steady pace-setting on the treadmill. I actually need to follow my own advice here now lol. ☺

Ah thank you for saying that! I'm worried about not making as much progress if I do a run on the treadmill instead of outside because it is sooo much easier on the treadmill! But I have been twice now and the run after that each time has been okay, so I think tomorrow I'll give it go, as today I didn't get the time!

They are different rather than one being better than the other. Treadmills can be gentler on the joints plus you're less likely to over-stretch/stride - I'm sure there's probably a technical term for that - as you haven't got the space, so they can be good for getting into the habit of small but quick steps. Oh & you can mess around with pace & incline without committing yourself to an actual hill or anything! But the great outdoors, once you're less self-conscious & dressed appropriately, has a whole host of other benefits which include getting your dose of natural light & fresh air as well as mindfulness & just the sheer buzz that comes from running from one place to another. ☺
