So the first 6,5 weeks of training has been good but boy oh boy since I started week 7 and finish last run twice I can’t barely manage it. The pace was slower then from the first 6 weeks and now after each run I had to take almost 3 days more or more even as my legs get so sore and stiff. Can’t barely walk and first ten minutes it was painful so yes I slowed down.
I’ll want to finish this program to be fit for my 5km run in December.
Any advice on how to get quicker recovery time etc.
Thanks

You won’t get faster til you get stronger, and that takes time. Building up leg strength with slow running will get you there but you can’t fast track the process
At the end of the programme you should be able to run for 30 mins so should be ok for a nice and steady 5k You might have to walk some of the race but there’s nothing wrong with that
Yes I do go slow and can do full 25 mins just pain in my knees
Take your time and rest fully. This isn’t a race, so it doesn’t matter one jot if you take a bit longer to reach the 30 Minutes. Quite a few of us would say that if we had our time again, we’d have taken an extra rest day as cumulatively the training impact isn’t increasing. Slow and steady gets you there. Good luck and happy snailing ...towards the podium
