I completed W2R1 last Thursday, and haven't run since then due to a combination of work and illness.
What's the best thing to do in terms of picking it up again? Has too much time elapsed to continue with W2R2? Should I start week 2 again altogether?

I did that with week 2, went away for 8 days without running gear, so came back and did it again.

Did it work out ok for you? I feel like so much time has passed that I'll be back to square one!

In sort, no. You wont lose fitness that quickly.
However, as all runs are the same in W2, just add aonther if you feel you need to before moving to W3.
That said, if you have completed all the runs then you should be fine to crack on and don't want to get into the habit of letting doubt hold you back.

no harm in starting again from week 2 or carry on as you feel best...
