PGW1 - or week 10

Well I thought rather than bore everyone with an every run post like I did in the first 9 weeks I would try and pop in a post once a week ... I did say this is not the end!

It's been a week since my graduation run and it started off well with a Sunday run just doing the same W9 run. Slight GPS malfunction meant that I recorded 100km/h during the run which I felt really good about!!! I listened to U2 Joshua Tree the same as my W9R3 and it gave out a good beat to listen to and kept me going. Tuesday was a different story - changed the music - that must be it! The run was so slow that when I stopped after 30 mins my pace actually picked up!!!

Today was a different story. I read about the C25K+ podcasts and thought maybe this would help to keep me on the straight and narrow. Then I listened to the Stepping Stone one in the car (research) and thought blimey that's fast! Can I do it? Should I do it? Not wanting to turn my run into a practice(!) I decided last night not to do it and just get out there and repeat my standard W9 run ... but on getting out this morning fairly early for me ... I gave in to my own curiosity and put on the C25K+ podcast.

It was good having that motivation of having something other than raw music to drive me forward. The steps per minute that I thought would be too fast for me actually helped me to achieve a fastest time on the walking section alone!! After about 10 - 15 mins I could feel my legs were beginning to take more of a workout than they were used to and thought I might have to stop around 20 mins but I am pleased to say I completed the 30 minute run.

The C25K has really enabled me to pick up my physical fitness and the weight is still going in the right direction. For anyone struggling along the way just keep it slow and steady - keep running and believe in yourselves.

Great post Richard.. we said the C25K+ podcasts were challenging.. and so good for the different disciplines within our running too! :)

I found the Stepping Stones made me do a funny little dance...but I love Speed and Stamina.. wait until you try those! :) They are good fun, and as you travel on.. maybe used on their own or within other runs... many of us do use them in that way. I use Speed, when I am short on time.. or for a quick burst withing a longer run :)

Very well done you,, and thanks for the motivational boost for our runners too!

Never thought of using them within a longer run, but didn't want to shorten my runs. I'll try that. 👍
