Week 9 run 1 and I just RAN 5k

Oh what a frosty morning! I was out of the house by 7am because it was just too inviting not to go our early while it was still frosty and misty. First time running with gloves on because otherwise I think my fingers would have dropped off before the end of the 5 min warmup. As soon as the warmup was over and I settled into my normal running pace, the blood started pumping around and I soon forgot all about the temperature and just marveled at the beauty of the morning and the fact that I was out in the fresh air and running. Me, who would have done anything to get out of running at school and have avoided anything even remotely like running ever since, even running for a bus, was moving steadily through the scenery and above all, was enjoying it.

I had picked a flat course today that I've run once a week over the last few weeks so Ive been able to measure my progress along the road as the mins have ticked up from 20 to 25 to 28 and today to 30. I knew I gone further than last week when I turned around and was astounded to see when I got back that in the 30 min run I covered 5.03km. I'm totally gobsmacked by that and I would never have imagined it possible just 8 weeks ago when I was terrified to run anywhere other than in my garden in case I keeled over and had to call home to be recovered on route.

I've found I love running early in the morning as I start the day feeling I have already achieved something wonderful. Today its one goal down, many many more to come!

Well done to you! I am a morning runner as well I love the buzz it gives me for the rest of the day. Fab doing the 5K in the 30 mins I haven’t got there yet just about 34 mins now. Only 2 more runs then your graduation! Keep it up xx

Nicely done so you really will be a 5ker by the end of the 9 weeks. That's a brilliant achievement. Cracking stuff
