Week 4.... shin splints?

Ugh guys, I think I've got shin splints! Any advise? I really don't want to have to give up the running (but know I have to) but for how long? What can I do in the meantime so when I get back to It, it's not like Week 1 all over again? I'm really gutted.

I'm no expert so probably best to consult your GP if they are bad.

I can however tell you that I was suffering in my left leg with this too, I take two or three rest days between runs now which seems to help me recover. I do at least 10 mins brisk walking as my warm up and I also make sure I stretch well after running. After a gait analysis I now have new trainers that have extra support in them to stop my foot rolling and I keep my pace REALLY slow and steady. That all meant today I ran pain free for the first time in weeks.

Hope you get them sorted soon.
