Rest day exercises?

Hi all,

Quick question for you – does anyone do any other type of exercise on the rest days? Is this allowed? I was thinking of doing some form of yoga or Pilates? Any guidance would be recommended. Thank you x

Yes, you definitely can do non-running exercise and something like yoga or Pilates is a particularly good option which will support the running.

Yep. Anything and everything that is non impact - swimming, cycling, stretching, yoga and, yes, Pilates. Or weights. Anything but running on consecutive days. That is forbidden by the Law of Amateur Running and punishable by, in all probability, painful and frustrating injuries.

I do stretching and planks. And squats. I think Rignold could add a few more.

I do a workout in the gym up to three times a week with core and upper body included as well as no-impact leg work. I also swim. Occasionally I'l go out on my bike, or go for a country walk with Mr R. Yesterday I even went to a Zumba class (haven't been in years).
