Having graduated a few weeks ago and tried various new routes on different terrains and gradients and as a consequence incurred a tightness and soreness behind one knee I took a compulsory time out. Today I participated in the Penrhyn Castle Parkrun for my first timed 5K, and as numerous others have declared previously ' I'm hooked '. Normally I'm a ' lone wolf ' runner/ walker but the atmosphere and cameraderie was just amazing and uplifting. Recently I posted a question, Is time relevance ? Up to today I was an enjoyment runner foremost, but, I have to eat my words, after clocking 32: 32 today on the picturesque and undulating Penrhyn course I have to hit < 30mins, time is addictive, but I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There's life in the old man still !!!!!

Good for you! I could see when you are that close the magic 30 minutes could call to you.

Thanks, I listened to the advice given on this forum, I.e start from the back and stuck to a comfortable steady pace all the way.

Brilliant, well done on your new 5K PB time. It's very addictive, now you have a time to aim to improve upon. You did a great pace for your first Parkrun. Well done.

Come on Oldfloss , now is your chance to do a parkrun, this is the one you told me about. Ask Gwibiwyr51 all the questions about this parkrun that has stopped you going. I have just done my 43rd parkrun and still around the 40min mark but I turn up and enjoy every minute. Go girl..

Yes, but nothing severe; the course consists of 2 loops, the first loop is longer than the second loop and both are repeated twice with the start and finish at the castle. The coffee and cake were my reward.
