Finally started!
Welcome! And a huge well done for getting out there. It's a cliche but the first run is always the hardest😀
This is a wonderful place for support, advice, the occasional kick up the bum, a friendly ear and everything in between. Never be afraid to post. I came here in April aged 47, never run, asthematic, a few health issues and serious doubts if this was for me, if I could do it. I found people who were older, more overweight, less active, more self consious, (even my lung and foot issues were trumped by others) who were all blowing this running lark out of the water! So I set off, graduated near end of June and recently spent the morning of my 48 th birthday running my first 5km road race ( in under 30 minutes, which was my goal).
If I can do this, you most definitely can too. This program really works, simple as.
There is loads of advice on here but my best of the best list is. Go slow, preferably even slower, always take your rest days, stretch, stretch, stretch and smile.
Trust in the program, believe in yourself, keep running and keep posting.👏🏼👏🏼🏃🏼♀️🐢🌟
Agree with Bonkersbrit, may I just add one tiny piece of advice? The horse may help you do the runs, but the armour will play havoc with your trainers.....
Good luck for your first run
Hahaha! Thank you for replying!
Welcome... well done you. There are many newbies starting alongside you
Follow the programme... take those rest days and add some gentle exercise on the rest days too. Non -impact, like walking, cycling, swimming, yoga or Pilates.. even a hard day;s gardening or housework, helps build strength and stamina
Take the advice offered by the Graduates, and swap experiences with folk still on their way to the podium Ask questions... even f you think they are silly... one of us will have an answer, and if we don't we will find out for you
Take it gently and do not push too hard... keep posting too..
Thank you! Good advice ☺
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions!
This site is fabulous and inspiring!
Aching this morning, muscles burning, but it's a good feeling knowing I've started and those aches will be a distant memory!
Well done for getting started. It is all about building up your stamina and endurance to 30mins running over the neat couple of months. Bonkersbrit and Oldfloss have given you great advice, so I can only add that:
It really does work and every timed walk and run is there for a reason. So trust in the programme.
We all share our experiences here, but it is your body and your journey, so embrace the aches but don't ignore the pain.
Rest days are important, take an extra if you need it.
Oh, and have fun. It is challenging, but extremely rewarding too!!
Thank you!
I must admit was confused and impressed ' whatsapp' replied 😂
....so you are a real person! 😂
My dog will be getting more fit as well! May see if there are any dog and owner challenges!
Hope my enthusiasm doesn't wane!
Hahahaha... I am real Lizzilou , But I can't say the same for that horse you are sitting on!
