Download the app. Follow the instructions. Come back and tell us all about it.

Download the app or the podcast. Decide when you are going to start (like tomorrow) and just go for it. Don't think about it. Definitely don't worry about it. Just get whatever you are going to run in ready and when it's time go for it.

Follow the programme exactly as it is set out. Start slow. Let us know how you get on. Everyone here can advise on whatever you need to know.

Before you know it you will be running for 30 minutes thinking how on earth did I manage that? Hey, that was me that just ran for 30 minutes. Woo hoo.

Enjoy.

Any known health problems? If so just check it out with the GP that you're good to go, then lace up the trainers and get out there. Nice and easy. Don't overthink anything. You'll have good runs and bad runs. Just a fact of life. There's no prizes for speed. It's a programme designed to develop good habits, stamina and strength. I'd actually advise leaving all distance measuring apps etc at home because, like dirty water, they only breed gremlins (you'll learn all about gremlins here!). Remember to drink lots of fluids to keep hydrated and take one run at a time. Keep, posting, ask questions and check out the treasure trove of previous posts as you approach each week. Before you know it you'll graduate and everyone will be cheering you. How's that for starters?

As Rignold says... and in between downloading the app, following the instructions, and telling us about it... get off the couch :)

I'm only on my second week so far, but I'll tell you the tiny bit that I've learned... keep your head up and focus on something in the distance, don't tie your shoes too tight, drink a good bit of water before you leave, get super hyped music, mentally pat yourself on the back the entire time, and finally when you get back, come on here and brag about yourself.😁

My you have learned a lot in two weeks! :) Took me ages to get that lot straight!

😁 Thank you! It feels strange giving someone advice when I'm so new, but learning to properly tie my shoes was an absolute game changer for me. Before I learned that, my feet would tingle and get numb. So uncomfortable! And keeping my head up and focusing on a street sign or parked car or what have you in the distance really helps me breathe because prior to that I would stare at my feet and end up hunched over. Thanks for making me feel like such a pro! I'm halfway through week 3 now! 👏👍

Download the podcast, grab your trainers and go. Don't think about it, psych yourself up or build it into a monster. Just go. Run, jog, shuffle etc until half of the podcast has played, then turn around and run for home. That way you can never get stranded and exhausted with a long walk back, also the second half goes quicker ( brain trick).

Remember, " You do not have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great"

Run slow and low (don't waste energy bouncing up and down)

Read around this forum, ask silly questions, soak up the love, moan when things don't go your way and scream from the rooftops when they do.

Trust in the program ( cos it works, simple as!), believe in yourself and keep us posted.😀😀

Now, get out there!! Good luck

All of the above comments and more. Just one slight addition - kick the couch - physically and mentally. Couches are killers, they seduce us into their squishy cushions and then one day we find we have become a squishy cushion and our legs have decided that they don't need to wok anymore.

At that point you've become soft furnishing.

Don't be a cushion, be a runner....
