Only W2 and then knee pain

Almost certainly due to poor technique. I'm aware my technique whilst running isn't great, I seem heavy/flat footed every now and then but wasn't too sure how to correct it. My hips hurt towards the end of my run and now my knee is on fire. There seems to be so much out there it's hard to know where to start. Help!

Have you got decent shoes that were recommended following a gait analysis?

Assuming so, use rest, ice, compression and elevation (RICE) to reduce any swelling and pain. Take a rest day or more if you need it.

If you're running on concrete/paving etc. can you switch to grass or a running track? That'll be easier on your joints.

Running is pretty impactful and you've only just started so it's normal to feel the effect on muscles and joints. Any initial pain is worse depending on age and weight too, in my experience. But... it gets way less painful the more you do it.

Good luck!

Don't panic. New runners get niggles. It's only to be expected as your body wakes up and begins to protest at the unfamiliar onslaught

Take an extra rest day if needs be and you should be fine

Go very slowly. No need to hurry 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to help me out.

I haven't completed any gait analysis. A pretty daunting venture for shy me. I'm about 65kg since 4 months on my load after an accident. Hoping to lose weight which should reduce some unwanted pressure.

A little rest and ice it is then I'll get back on it when I can walk without looking like a wonky donkey.

Thanks again

I need to lose weight too, if I'm going to keep the running going. The good news is that the extra calories expended on a run help with that.
