Happy Women's Day

Having graduated last Wednesday I decided to enter a virtual run today in aid of International Women's Day, which was organised by Women's Running Magazine. You were able to pick your own route, distance and when you do it (can be anytime between today and midday on Sunday (ow.ly/OobP309G1TW) ).

I selected 5K and set out first thing this morning. It was absolutely tipping it down and a bit chilly too, but with some effort I managed to get out there. I knew I wouldn't be able to manage a full 5K run and there would be some walking involved at the end. I followed my normal route and kept running for about 30 minutes but then for the first time since I started I felt a stitch in my right side, omw it was sore so I thought that was a good cue for a brief walk and chance to stretch out my side. After a couple of minutes it was easing so I trotted off once more for approx. another 5 minutes in total and finished with a cool down walk, still a little twinge in the side. Overall I covered 5.06KM in around 49 minutes. Definitely not breaking any speed records but at least I have something now I can work on and gradually improve.

And in a few days I should get my first little medal to celebrate :D happy days and Happy Women's Day to all the lovely ladies out there.xx

I did the virtual race and got soaked too! This will be my first medal and I look forwards to getting many more. I have signed up to do the 10K in MK in July. Hopefully I'll be ready for it by then....fingers crossed. Good luck with your journey x
