Hi all I've only just discovered this forum & im on week 7 just about to go out for run1. I'm feeling a bit apprehensive about the long runs ahead with no walking breaks. Any help/advice would be much appreciated ππ
Daunted by weeks 7-9!: Hi all I've only just... - Couch to 5K
Daunted by weeks 7-9!
If you have followed the programme then you are ready for this! Remember to go slow and steady, and then slower still. There is no requirement for distance or speed, just keep moving one foot in front of the other running for the required time.
You can do this! ππ»ββοΈππ»
I was daunted at the prospect of weeks of relentless long runs at the end of the programme too. I quite like intervals! But it was actually fine, perfectly doable because the increases are quite small. It's a way of building up your stamina and if you've got this far this is what you're ready for. Good luck and enjoy!
Hi, I remember feeling daunted at the prospect of each new week throughout the entire programme, thinking, "I'll never be able to do that."
Then I'd think, "I can at least try it and if I can't do it I'll just re-do the previous week." To my amazement, I would always get through it somehow.
One of the best pieces of advice I've heard about C25k is that it is more about overcoming mental hurdles than physical ones. In my case, this was very true.
It's not a competition, remember. You can slow right down, take small steps and go at your own pace. Slowing it right down should get you through.
Whenever I'm struggling I listen to upbeat music that makes me want to dance and I soon forget about my leaden legs!
You've got this far, you'll be fine. Although daunting, I actually found the programme much more enjoyable once you leave those walking intervals behind as you can get into a rhythm and find your pace. Just stay slow, if you want to stop then just keep slowing down and it will hopefully get you through. I'm not sure if you've been using the NHS podcasts but at the end of W6R3 Laura calls you a runner. She's always right so you are completely ready for the rest of the runs.
