Hi everyone. I've not posted for a while I've had a break from C25K and last ran 2 weeks ago; I was up to week 8 run 3. I'm very disappointed and would welcome any advice on where to start up again?
Where to start from...?: Hi everyone. I've not... - Couch to 5K
Where to start from...?
If it were me, however I am cautious about taking an injury, I would run for ten minutes, stop, figure out which "week" I would probably be capable of doing, and then go back a week from that and get into the groove again
It is disappointing to feel you have lost some time, but a few weeks in a lifetime really won't seem as important say on your first graduation anniversary
Take it slow and steady....and enjoyable Best wishes to you.
You won't have lost much fitness in two weeks so you could try a very slow 20 minutes and see how you get on. You could also do a walk/run combo and gradually increase your run time.
Just get back out there (well, depending on the reason for not running... if you've had a massively nasty flu or something maybe not)
My first post to this forum well over 4 years ago was asking this sort of question as I'd been ill (not with flu) and I am very, very grateful for the suggestion that I should just carry on where I left off.
Just think about it: what information/encouragement would you take from each strategy. If you go out and do the next session and don't complete it in full, yes, you'll need to repeat it. But if you go out and do a previous session and you don't complete that one, how will you deal with that?
The only time I would say different is when the next run for someone is the first big running continuously one. Then there's a case for getting another interval run under your belt first if you've had a break - there's so much 'head stuff' to get over that you don't want any queries about physical issues complicating matters (unless you actually want to give it a go in which case your head is half way there anyway)
Take it gently and don't have great expectations.
