Week 2 of Don't fall in Fall Quest.

Great weekend for Forum runners this weekend. So great to see so many out there flying the flag.

I find that seeking goals for the next six weeks helps to keep me on track and I have little challenges along the way that give me a boost and keeps the motivation up.

Make it personal to yourself and achievable but as with everything on here have fun with it.

What the quest is:-

The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

I ask that you will be a graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises.

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

So, if you wanted to join all you have to do is put

I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............

Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.

At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put our longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run.

Strange week this week for me. I'm visiting my Dad in Yorkshire. Diet out the window and with my knee on its week of healing so no running but I have managed two 4km fast walks. Going home on Wednesday so after a catch up with mr Rfc I will be out for a run and I can't wait.

Hi all

I survived the 10km yesterday setting a new best time of 1h12min but I know that I could have done way better!

Average pace was sitting at 7:11/km possibly because of slowing down at over crowded water stations... (21 000 people entered the race!!!)

This week I have 2 races lined up with an 8km on Thursday and a 10km on Sunday so lets see if I can improve my time to 1h10min :D

I have also decided to try out some strength classes at my gym so lets see how they go :)

I ran three times last week (if Sunday counts) but I didn't manage very well yesterday.

I had been looking forward to doing a longer run than usual on Saturday but on Thursday evening I was offered a day at Ascot races (in a box!) on Saturday, so I happily accepted and decided I'd run on Sunday instead. Saturday was great fun but it involved a lot of food and drink and it seems I still have no willpower to say 'no'. Consequently yesterday's run was 2 miles of struggle rather than 3.1 miles of satisfaction.

No problem though (I hope!) it just means that I'll eat a bit less this week and work a bit harder! And I keep telling my (rather annoyed with myself) self, 2 miles was better than nothing!

A great weekend for the team 😊

I had a good week and managed one 6K run on the road, one shorter interval run and a lovely 11K. I didn't make it to the gym at all but did do some exercises at home 😊 And I fell off the wagon a bit with the smoothies. And none this week as I'm going to Ireland to see my mum and her generation doesn't understand why on earth we'd want to eat our fruit and veg as a drink! Must make an effort to eat the real thing!

Still running 3 to 4 times a week. My half marathon plan is done now, the race over, so now have a new plan for a 10k race in December

I pulled in a fell race on Saturday, which was a blast! 😊Went for a slap up dinner later but didn't go mad.

Went to WW Friday, so keeping myself in check ☺

Well you are all making me feel very inadequate but I am in!!πŸ˜‚ Still struggling with doing 5k without walking halfway through but that is going to be my quest. 5k non-stop - I have done it before on parkrun but for some reason the Spanish Gremlins are stronger than the Brit ones !

Two successes to report: firstly 6 days of morning yoga. Oddly enough the day I missed I had nipped home overnight from a conference, partly so I'd do my yoga (my room was being shared with someone I had never met before... I never looked at it so possibly there wasn't even room to do it, although it takes very little space, I've done it in hotel rooms) I don't even know now why it didn't happen (had breakfast at home, went back to the conference, had more breakfast and AGM starting at 8.15am) But I have already stated that success would be defined as 5 days in a week.

Not a single run! Or swim!

But I held up really well through all the other stuff that was going on and that is very unusual and I am very happy about it.

2 runs instead of 3 last week. Just felt really tired and not up for it early in the week - possibly due to my flu jab, possibly due to spending the weekend partying at a friend's wedding. By Thursday I was back on track and managed a gentle 5k, and Saturday morning the sun was shining and my HM plan wanted 7k, which I did.

Hoping to manage 3 outings this week, including one later today !

Count me in! Over the next 6 weeks I would like to increase my distance each week by following a programme consisting of 3 runs:

Run 1 speed run of 5k consisting of intermittent sprints

Run 2 slower run focussing on distance, increasing by 10% each week up to 9k

Run 3 Saturday park run for fun!

Well. My quest was to rest and recover as I have a calf injury. I dutifully rested all week which was very hard as I had already planned my runs. Luckily it rained a lot too! This week I'm still not running but hope to manage some short walks. Walked with my neighbours dogs at the weekend and managed to fall - on a muddy slope so I blame the terrain not my weak leg, but I need to be careful!

Got my running light delivered this week as recommended on the forum. Looking forward to trying it out once I work it out!!

I didn't have a great running week last week. At the beginning of the week my husband was ill, and not up to running. (I am supporting him through the early stages of Couch to 5K.) Then I had a planned longer run with my daughter, who got in from school and decided she didn't want to do it. Once hubby was better we did manage a week one run, and then I got his horrible cold and couldn't run over the weekend. So all in all it wasn't great. Partly it was my fault, for not running anyway, (I was a bit miffed tbh), and partly circumstance. Feeling slightly better now, so hoping to do a short-ish run early tomorrow and then a longer run later in the week, and hopefully my first parkrun on Saturday.

Started last week well with my graduation run. Then had to have 3 rest days because of a troublesome cold. Also had a good run Saturday. So not exactly 3 runs except that I think I should allow myself one for Friday, too - not a normal run at all and I wasn't properly dressed for it, but due to mixups about who was dealing with the sound system for my father's funeral I had to run the 1/2k from the church to my parents' house. Not very far but slightly uphill and I had to be quicker than usual and without C25K I would never have managed it.

On Saturday I actually ran more than 5k, but with walk intervals. I also added a bit of a hill.

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time. Your right to have the walk intervals if you want them at this time. Best thing is to treat your body with a lots of tlc, take good care of yourself. Rfc X.

I aren't running now until Sunday as my Asics plan has given me the rest of the week off after my HM :-)

I will be walking my usual 5k to work this week, but am just going to give my body the chance to recover .

Did my three runs last week increasing time. Now running 3.5k. Seems very slow. So many other people seem to be running 5 k at or near to graduation. Plan to increase this week to 4K . Should I just push to doing 5k and see how long it takes?
