Currently on W5R2 (tomorrow) started from a 16 stone couch potato.
I have had to stop looking at what the runs entail because as soon as I see the description a self defeating thought creeps in "no way you can do that, 5 minutes? You'll have to stop, you'll have a stich, you can't do it"
Then I actually get my shoes on and I can do it, no matter how hard it is, I manage it and feel great, But as soon as I see the description my mind says "nope nope nope nope"
Anyone else have to battle this every time?? I've put myself in for a 5k at the end of May so I'm going to stick at it. I just wish my mind would be getting as fit as my body!!

I think it's a very good idea to just deal with one run at a time and not worry about the next one til it's facing you. One is enough to worry about.
It's a great programme, and if you go good and steady you'll be fine. The thing only seems to come off the rails for peeps if they start trying to go too quick. No need for speed! Make that your mantra for 9 weeks
Ha! I felt exactly the same- especially when longer runs loomed. You will be fine. The programme works as long as you take things slowly and stick with it. I agree, though- looking ahead lets negative thoughts sneak in!
I know what you mean! I'll join you tomorrow for W5r2. Like Dory in finding Nemo, just keep moving! Good luck
Every time! So much so that, when I said this week "Oh, I really don't feel like going out for this run" my 9 year old son said "You always say that and then you come back and say it was fine!" Just do it!
I had the same. Someone on here gave me v good advice, which I pass on. Tell the gremlins to (ahem) go away, ask yourself 'are my legs about to fall off? And can I keep breathing?' If the answer to both of these is yes, spot a tree or similar in the middle distance and head for it sloooowly. Good luck.
