Contemplating..... a 2nd hand one tho.

Can anyone please tell me the difference between a 10 and a 110??

Also - what I really need is one that will pace me, ie beep or something if I'm going too slow or fast - do all the models do that?

Thanks in advance

x

I think that you need one that supports "workouts". This is where you select a speed range (either one for a period or a set of intervals) on Garmin Connect and upload it as a workout to your watch. It does not look to me as if either of those has that function.

I have the 410, which does have Workout options, but it's significantly pricier. There may well be better options than that but I don't know the range well enough to advise. Someone with a broader view on the range may be able to help you.

Thanks Ugi

Yes I was starting to think those models didn't give quite the right thing, lets hope someone can advise which is the cheapest model to go for which does!

I've got the Garmin 10 - You can set the pace you want, and it beeps and tells you if you are going faster or slower than that speed, or if you are running at the correct speed. It does enough for me - distance, pace, minutes/km, calories (I don't see the importance of the last one but hey, ho, it's always good to know how many Hobnobs you can eat afterwards).

ooh - that's great news - I'll bid for one of those then..

there's a lot more 110 for sale - you don't happen to know if that model does the pace thing do you?

No idea. I saw a comment on a site saying that the 10 had "practically all the features of the 110, with the added cool feature of virtual pacer". I'm sure there is someone here who has one and can tell you :D

The Garmin Forerunner 110 is a great training aid for your outdoor runs. It doesn't have custom screens so you can just see distance, time and average pace and you can scroll through to see heart rate as well. It doesn't have the feature to set interval targets or heart rate zones, or pace alarms, but let's be honest - unless you are training for the next olympics, do you really need all that.

As mfam says, the 10 has the pace bleep...

Thanks Dave, think I'll see if I can get a 10. I have terrible trouble keeping a steady pace outdoors, too used to treadmill I suppose

There's some 10s on ebay, my 210 doesn't have pace alert either, just have to keep looking, just as well really, mine would probably be bleeping all the time as I got tired..lol
