Parkrun (sort of!)

I finally braved the parkrun yesterday and am so glad I did, I've wanted to do it for ages but couldn't seem to work up the courage. The people were lovely and there were all sorts of shapes & sizes there. I'd arranged to meet a friend who is an experienced parkunner there, but agreed she'd run on ahead so I didn't slow her up. She explained that there was a loop in the course but I obviously wasn't listening, because I missed it out! I knew I'd gone wrong as I was being lapped by faster people and there didn't seem to be an alternative route for a loop. As I crossed the finish line I was so disappointed that I hadn't completed the 5k. After 5 minutes dicussion my lovely friend persuaded me to go back and run an extra part of the course so I could say I'd done the whole 5k. I crossed the line last but happy that I'd done 5k for the first time - next week has to be an improvement!

  • Well at least next week won't be too daunting ;) Park runs are great fun :) well done for trying !

  • I think you were right to go back and complete the 5k otherwise you wouldn't have the sense of achievement of completing the distance. Glad it hasn't put you off. Homework for the week, studying the park run course map !! Good luck for next week.
