Hi and welcome to the Mad March Movement quest week 6
I can not believe we are in week six. It seems to of crept up on me a bit. Well I have to say personally it's six weeks I am ready to leave behind. Two funerals, a sick dad, sick father Inlaw and two seriously ill close freinds. The only think that keeps me sane sometimes is coming on here and going for my run. I am So glad to have the joy of running in my life.
What the quest is:-
The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.
At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing from John O Groats to Lands End.
Then it all starts again for another six week Quest.

The ankle healed slowly so I treated it with compassion. I surprise myself how I have learnt new things since learning to run. Patience with my body is the most important. Luckily I still managed jantastic, swims earlier in The week as the ankle was fine with that. And the runs the latter part of the week after a rest.
That's a lot to cope with in a six week period RFC.
I've had different challenges but like you, feel that running gives me some much needed headspace.
Week 5 of this Quest has been a very good one for me, seeing the realisation of my most important running goal since the first step of C25K and graduation. It really was a magical circuit of two Peak District Edges. What usually happens when I achieve goals is that it takes all the energy for doing anything else, but that hasn't happened. I did another run and got two swims in (not great swims but at the moment it is only costing me £1 a time which is very motivating)
So mostly it has been tick, tick, tick, despite a busy and stressful week. The extra yoga is a sticking point. Really finding it hard to fit in (the first thing in the morning 10 minutes is no problem). I've had more success at least attempting the relaxations/meditations but I think this week has really shown me how many interruptions I have which is part of it, and the other is needing to be in the right clothes.
The weight loss is pretty static (why didn't I leave several kilos up on the moors????) but I've set myself a Lent task of recording what I eat every day regardless (even when it involves home-made banana split after home made pizza....)
Thank you. Sounds like your doing really well. I am sticking on the weight too. I have set my self a task of functional food only. It has to firmly fit into a nutritional group. I will see how I get on with that. I record too, it helps me to see it written down, especially with wine.
Agh rfc what a dreadful time you and your family have been having . Sometimes it must just feel like you can't take any more bad news. Like you I find running is what keeps me sane when life is difficult. I don't think non runners appreciate how much benefit running can be to our mental well being - it's not just about putting one leg in front of another. Hope the dads are improving and sorry to hear about your friends . All you can do is take one day at a time and you will get through this . Take care and sending big hug
I didn't have a bad week considering hubby was in hospital for 4 days and I thought I wouldn't be able to run at all. But I got my 3 runs in (yeah) 2x 3.5K's and a 10K. A friend came to stay with me and she's a runner so we went out together for one of the 3.5K's. Lovely.
Also managed a fitness pilates session where the instructor had us doing lots of core work which included a plank taking one foot off the floor! Yikes that was hard!
Good luck all fellow questers and to those on the IC lots of TLC.
Hope hubby is recovering well. Well done for getting your runs in. That is a hard core plank. I am too nervous to try one in case I face plant the floor.
I'm so sorry to hear about the rough period, RFC. And also sorry to hear about your hubby, IP. Life sometimes does suck a bit.
In contrast I've had a good week, although for the first time since starting I didn't manage to stick to my Jantastic goals. Not all bad, as I had expected to miss some exercise while getting ready for a HM yesterday, but I ended up missing a bit more than planned, and more than the joker could cover. Never mind, the important thing is to focus on exercise gotten, rather than exercise missed.
Thank you. It doesn't seem fair that your training getting ready for a HM and janatstic has no way to fit that in, you couldn't be more of the sort of thing they are trying to inspire.
Oh I don't worry about it. Jantastic is based on x number of exercises per week, and while that works great 99% of the time for 99% of the people, it didn't work for me last week (and also won't this week). But I know that the challenge is still getting me out of the door more than if I didn't have it, so I'm very pleased
ONly one run this week for me. It being half term the grandchildren were visiting and there was very little free time then. And any free time I did get, I was too exhausted to even think about running!
Thank you. Well done on your runs. You've just reminded me I have some elastic laces in my old runners that will suit my new ones. Must go and hunt them out.
Really sorry to hear what a dreadful few weeks you have had RFC.
It's been a busy week for me with my sister and brother in law and little niece and nephew visiting us. Also house-hunting and putting in an offer on a flat. Running-wise, I managed my first 10k so really happy with that. Am now debating entering a 10k race that is taking place here on Good Friday. I'm also managing to fit in the yoga on rest days.
Thank you. Well done on your first 10k it is a special feeling isn't it. I am so trying to be better with my stretching. I really need it as distances get higher. Good luck with everything you have going on.
In terms of this week's Quest, I'm pleased to report that I have managed 3 runs. This is more than I have achieved this year so I'm hoping that I can keep it up and start to build up again. Sunday's run was particularly pleasing because I went out intending to do 4k and because things were going so well, turned it into a 5k
I hope all those on the IC are looking after themselves, and happy running to everyone else.
Having had an 'orrible cold and cough last week, and shoe problems, I didn't manage a lot of running, just 2....I'm feeling a bit better now, although still coughing a bit. Got my new shoes, I'm going out this morning to see how they do over 5K. Then the usual stuff, some intervals or similar on Thursday and hopefully a longer run on Saturday.
Thank you all for your lovely well wishes, it is so sweet of you. I am hoping we are all turning a corner this week and it will be onwards and upwards from here. I will post the end of Quest post on Friday.
Oops, sorry ...totally slipped my mind on Monday and yesterday to post ' progress' on here.
Three runs done last week ...again,two were short and accompanied by dog( 3.6 and 3.7K) and the last one was a 5K...and I loathed every step from the outset
I feel awful to admit this when so many are laid up ...out of action due to injury or feeling rubbish with winter ailments ,but I'm just not feeling any love for the running at the moment...let's hope it's just the winter blues .
Sorry to hear you've had a rubbish time of it lately Rfc....chin up...hopefully you've had your ' share' and Spring is just around the corner
Thank you. Sorry your not feeling the love just now. Sometimes I just go out for a fun run if I feel like that. No times no distance just walk run or whatever I feel like. Just to be outside and leave everything behind, with me especially the housework which I hate with avengence. Hopefully with spring around the corner it might help.
Two week update from me as I never did post last week. Work is getting in the way of my running, but not before time financially.
2 runs each week since last report. 2 x 3k in the first week, both free of knee pain, so upped it to a 4k and a 5k last week still all good.
Physio happy with progress - another massage on it and told to increase one run a bit more if all is OK.
Also been getting a fair amount of steps in according to my Jawbone. For the first time I'm reaching my steps target on non run days and not my sleep target. Must be working!!
