The young lad (20) in my office told he went for a run at the weekend (he's not a runner generally)...... 4.2Miles in 28mins... the beauty of youth!!
Kids eh!!!: The young lad (20) in my office told... - Couch to 5K
Kids eh!!!
That wouldn't have been my reaction!
That pace would have put him 12th in Newbury ParkRun with a time of 20'43 and in second place for his gender/age. But with an age-grade of 62%.
In return, I would have asked him how his retirement pension fund is growing
Sob sob Lol
That's fast! And particularly if he's not generally a runner. I'd take my hat off for the young man
Miles or Kilometers? but well done to him!
Oh the vitality of youth... My 13 year old said "I'll do Parkrun with you Dad if you like" and he bounced around in 26 minutes, then played football for 2 1/2 hours. (Then swept through the kitchen cupboards like a swarm of locusts)
Kicked him in the shins!!!
Git!
There is just one word I can use to describe this ....... PAH ! xxx
He could have been fibbing! Yeah he was. Does that makes you feel better? LOL
I'd love to know what you said in reply.......
You should have told him that you could do that too at 20, a little white lie never hurt(or maybe you did!)
Similar thing happened to me at the office except the colleagues were around my own age (30s). There was a work 5k fundraiser and several of them just went out and ran the whole thing, without any training at all. I didn't participate, but was slightly depressed that the few 5ks I had run by that time were a serious effort for me and major accomplishments.
I did feel much better about my own approach when they walked into work the next day all stiff and sore from pushing those running muscles too hard.
Not fair is it.. my eldest son is in the need of losing a few lbs (quite a few) and increasing his fitness.
He said the first run he found after running for 10 mins he was knackered.. but by the end of 2 weeks he was comfortably running for 40 minutes?!?!
I guess he has been fit before but just let it slide over the last few years.. now with some hard work and determination he's been able to practically pick up where he left off!
Oh to be young...
i know what you mean , i was talking to a work colleague about running a 10K , he said it did it in 35-40 mins !!! you are right about youth
Ah but will he still be able to do 5k at any speed in 25 years!!
