Long time no see!

Haven't been on here for ages. However haven't given up the running. For one reason and another seem however to be stuck around week 5. I did the 20 mins then got ill. Have sporadically done a mixture of running and currently can do about 20 mins but have to walk at some point. Any advice to break through this barrier and move on!!!!

I have no expertise at all, so do listen to advice from long-standing runners. However I'll still say something to encourage you and its this: My maxim in life is always to set myself up for success - by that token, I would go back to week 4 and by definition you will succeed at that and feel great. Then go onto week 5 and you'll succeed at that as you can already do it anyway. So, tick, another success chalked up. You'll be feeling positive and successful, with the right attitude and you'll be able to carry on. Someone on here just recently said 'I've heard cto5k is easy' She got loads of replies saying 'no it isn't'. We all know its not easy, but if you follow the programme (including repeating weeks if necessary), then you will succeed. Don't accept a failure, just look on it as building stamina and muscle and think 'Wow, I'm on week 4 already - haven't I done well. etc, etc, Sorry to go on!

Yes just keep running. No shame in stopping for a breather though. Keep going and you'll be fine

Well done for keeping with it running and walking that's loads better than doing nothing! Buffy has made some good points you can always do week 4 again and build on that. But I reckon you can do it. Can you change your route and try somewhere new? And slow down even if you think you can't and you may surprise yourself x :-)
