I am new to running and thought I would give couch to 5k a try. I am an open water swimmer but currently out of the water due to shoulder and neck problems. This sounds a good way to get fitter and loose some weight before I return to the water, any tips are always welcome.
New to running.: I am new to running and thought... - Couch to 5K
New to running.

Take it slowly, trust the process and prepare to become addicted you'll love it!

Welcome swimcat. You are probably pretty fit already but just follow the programme, stretch after every run and take a rest day between runs. And most importantly, run very slowly. As a swimmer your breathing is probably very controlled and this will help you a lot with the running. Good luck and enjoy!
hi and welcome , trust in the program, it works, dont doubt yourself you can and will do it

Just post away any questions that you may have... you'll be guaranteed lots of good advice
All the best... you wont regret it!!

Open swimming! How marvellous. I've always fancied a go at that. It's on my list of things to do
Running does involve your shoulders quite a bit but at the early stages of C25k I don't think it will overtax them.
Good luck with it! Have fun

I swim a couple of times a week (in an indoor pool) & run 3 times a week. I've found the breathing from swimming has helped with the running. It's definitely a different set of muscles that you'll be using. During the podcasts there are reminders about posture - 1 is to remember to relax your shoulders. It's very easy to hunch uo as you're tryimg to maintain/increase your pace & I try to relax my shoulders frequently when I'm out. In fact now I try & do that whatever I'm doing. Good luck with your running & getting back to the swimming
