So, I'm giving a 'fitness pilates' class a go tonight as part of my membership for the gym. Hoping (if I keep it up!) that it will make me a little stronger & therefore a better runner. Anyone else do Pilates? Any feedback?

Pilates!
I love Pilates. I go to classes three times a week, and do a Pilates and yoga work out for 20 minutes each night before I go to bed. I have noticed a big difference with my core strength and posture, and the exercises have helped reduce the number of calf injuries I now seem to get (before I started Pilates, I used to get regular shin splints).
Yes, I do Pilates once a week and I'm sure it helps the running. Strong hips and glutes seem to be key to prevent injury. The tutor knows I am a runner and concentrates sometimes on what would be helpful. Have also learnt some excellent stretches for after runs.
The only annoying thing is that my jawbone up simply does not recognise Pilates as activity - but it's actually very hard work at times!
My physio told me to do it to help improve my balance.
Seems to have worked, but I have stopped going as I could not fit it into my schedule easily.
Oh yes, I go once a week. Our hour session covers both mat and apparatus work (mostly they look like instruments of torture) and the class is just 4 people so we all get very individual attention, so it really helps whether it's to help with the running or to work on a general niggle/problem, or two. I'm a great believer in its benefits and can see the diference in the 20 months or so I've been going. Hopefully you'll feel it helps too.
I do Jillian Michaels fitness DVD's and she incorporates all sorts of discliplines into the workouts and one of those is pilates. She includes yoga, plyo, body pump, kick boxing moves etc so all bases get covered. You'll enjoy it and you will get stronger. Your running will improve as you get fitter
Thanks! I ache today! All good though
