Afternoon all you lovely HU people... Aussie here with a very delayed update from my adventures of the past few weeks... Those of you on Facebook probably know I haven't gone into a cave of late, but I have been mad busy at work and working out of town on a new assignment that has me on planes, trains and automobiles between Birmingham, London, Edinburgh and Watford... sometimes all in a week!
Anyway - enough of the high life of an IT consultant... what about that ankle and that running thing?
Well - even with the dark coming in and the wilds of Birmingham City Center to deal with (it's actually quite okay) I've managed to come back pretty well from that pesky injury and I've been doing at least 2 runs during the week and a long run on a weekend... I even braved the hotel gym for the treadmill a few times (didn't like it much but it was a run, it was light and it was safe)...
Last Sunday was an 8.2 mile long run in a little under 1:30... and tomorrow is a day I've been looking forward to for a while.. it's the Kingston Run Challenge 8.2 miler (some brave souls are doing 16 and 24 miles).... I'm aiming to keep it nice and easy and I'm aiming for a sub 1:25 finish... Pacers will be out so I'm going to sit behind the 11 min/mile one until about 5 miles then going to just push it out and go with the flow... it did make me laugh to realize the record for the 16 mile on this course is also under 1:30... maybe if people ask I'll just say I'm doing the 16 miler and appear super fast... lol...
I'm buzzing already and have all my gear laid out, I've raised £155 for Sparks and the whole family is coming along to cheer me (and about 1500 others on)... Aussie is back...
I'm really sorry I've not been on here much... might need to check out the mobile version... it's a bit of a challenge to get in front of the laptop for "non-work stuff" in my new role...
Happy running all... and hope you all had a great Parkrun today (CurlyGurly - don't worry about today, go somewhere else next time... they really are meant to be fun...!)....
Happy C25K'ing, whether you're on week 1 or pushing out a half marathon tomorrow (some of you are!)... we rock!
That medal above? I want one tomorrow... I'm going to need to work for it...
