Does running develop your muscles?

I am going to start running in a few days, will it develop my muscles?

I think it does :) I've only been running since March and have definitely seen and felt more tone in my calves, thighs, bum and abs.

Having said that it's probably not the most effective way to build muscle tone and if you have specific aims or areas you want to tone it may be worth taking up other exercises on your running rest days- I've bought a weighted hula hoop to try and further tone ans strengthen my core.

We've been spammed recently and had cross posts from the other forums on HU so MW was just checking you were a real person. Yes, running will develop your muscles, most specifically leg muscles. You'd need to do strength training for core and arm muscles to get them up to scratch. But remember muscle definition is more about low body fat, so they can be seen rather than just decent sized muscles, if there's a good layer of fat on top you won't see the definition.
