Which garmin or other watch for running

I want to get a watch to track my running, can anyone give me any advice on what one to get. The forerunner looks good but are quite expensive for the newest model, are the older ones just as good?

I have a Forerunner 10 and it's excellent. Easy to use and to set up, easy to sync the data with the computer and it all works brilliantly. It was £75 on Amazon when I got mine a few weeks ago. They come in an array of fancy colours as well. It does everything I need: time, distance and speed, and more. I'm happy with it and don't feel the need to upgrade to the 15. Yet! :-)

I also have the Forerunner 10 (a bright Green one ) which is a great watch for all the basic information, however the only downside to this one is if you want to now or in the future think you might like to use a heart rate monitor in which case you might be better off with another version. There are quite a few on auction sites for about £50

Thanks I will have a look at Amazon and eBay, nor sure if I would have a heart rate monitor but it would be good to have the option - best do some research!

I love my Garmin Forerunner 10. It's fab. I don't need a heart rate monitor. Well, I don't think I do! I am a technophobe but I can use it. I got mine from T*sco and they are cheaper now I think. It depends on the colour? Daft I know, but they charge more for the more popular colours

I also have the Forerunner 10, I found mine on Ebay for £52 but I did have to wait a while to get a good price. It really is brilliant and really simple. I'm also happy not having a heart rate monitor, but my friend whose focus is on losing weight has found it really helpful to know what % of her maximum she's been running at.

As you'll see from the amazon reviews, what isn't immediately clear is that the size of the watch strap is dependent on colour. While the green, pink, purple fit are all the same and fit men and women they are small and so great if you have small wrists. The black ones have larger straps and might be better for men.

I've just got the Forerunner 15 and I love it. I really wanted an activity tracker and a GPS running watch so it is perfect for me. If I had just wanted a running watch I would probably have gone for the Forerunner 10.

Not what you're looking for?
