Garmin Forerunner 10 GPS Running Watch

Has anyone got this watch and is the GPS pickup reliable?

Currently use my phone in back pocket of tights but to start it, then get it into back pocket, and the same for finishing can be fiddly. Would much prefer a watch which would be easy access!

Is this worth the money?

I like mine, couldn't decide between Barbie pink and puke green so got the man's black version which fits fine too. I think there's a purple one available now too...

Only downside is it sometimes takes a while to find a signal but if you put it outside 5 minutes before you go it's usually okay. I run in woods which is fine, no signal problems once it's picked up in the first place.

Here's an EXTREMELY detailed review someone posted at the weekend, I found it quite interesting and still didn't get to the end but there must be ALL the information you'll EVER need there and sorry for the capitals but you'll see why when you read it... :-)

I've got the Forerunner 110. Not sure what the difference is, not much I wouldn't have thought - I love it and wouldn't be without it. There's something satisfying about knowing you've done 10k rather than thinking you did about 10k. I am making consistent small improvements which wouldn't be as noticeable if you couldn't track them accurately. Never had any problem getting a satellite signal - one or two minutes I would say.

The 110 has heart rate monitor too I believe.

I have the 10 in Barbie pink as £5 (I think, maybe £10) went to Breast Cancer Charity. It's great - easy to use in every way as the link shows. Sometimes if I've been out and about it has taken a little while, but only seconds, not minutes to pick up the signal (worryingly? if I'm sitting in my chair in the sitting room it picks it up within in 3 or 4 seconds - beam me up Scottie?). If you find yours, whichever you go for, taking time just put it in the window and put it on as you go out to run.

And, yes, they are accurate. And, yes they are worth the money - although I got mine from Tesco on the last voucher exchange so I didn't actually have to fork out 'real' money.

Me too, pink and voucher exchange and breast cancer donation!

I've not got the satellites as close as you though! It picked up quite fast this morning before my run and went back to powersave mode by the time I'd got my shoes on, but when I took the dog out this afternoon it took over 5 minutes to find them!

Ooh that's a good tip AnnieW55, I hadn't thought about getting it through the voucher exchange, whenever their next one is!

I have a Garmin forerunner 110 and loving it. That is one of the best gadgets I have ever bought. Spent £100 but well worth it! Go for it, buy it as a Graduation present, that was what I did:-)

I agree forerunner 110 is fAb and well worth getting to give you good info and a sense of improvement... And it was my graduation present and an incentive to hang in there as soon after graduation had major surgery. Not back running yet but using it to walk further, faster every day... Hope to be back soon and will probably be asking for advice about how to begin again... Good luck to everyone about to graduate and those about to start. C25K is great. :-)

I was asking the same thing the other day. I'm planning to buy Forerunner 110 myself as a graduation gift. Reading everybody is happy with it I don't know how much longer I can resist the urge
