Sorry that I haven't replied to you. I had challenged myself to run over this distance in May and succeeded. Now I'm hooked on completing another 100k this month in June. I have noticed Im running a lot longer and having less runs to achieve these challenges. I have been monitoring my runs with my Nike App which came free on my wee nano iPod which works brilliantly. You can set your distance, goals etc whether its just walking, running or cycling. You then connect it to your computer and see your recordings. I can't recommend it enough. Thanks for your reply

Oh yes can't wait , hope my hips better . (

I'm assuming you mean the London Bupa great run 10k on 25th May? Yes, I'm signed up for it. I'm also doing the one in July for help for heros.

Hi, I think this is actually one of those ultra marathons over several days - a real killer! Cheers.

in reply to

Waaah! In that case, wowie :-)

in reply to

Er, it's not me that's doing it.

Hi fitmo, sorry, yes understood you weren't signed up for it, just a wow that I hadn't realised there was a London ultra marathon :-/

in reply to

I think there are quite a few of them around the country at various times. The person who put this post up didn't specify but there is one from London to Brighton sometime near the end of this month.

Is this an official thing then? I ran 100k in May last year, but that was many runs within May. It was most enjoyable and great to have a target.

I won't be this year as I'm recovering from a knee injury but may attempt it later in the year... 100k in september doesn't have the same ring though ;)

Thats what I thought.. and yes it is my target for the Month, although Ive started a few days later than planned, I've managed 38 km so far. My plan is to manage 10km in between a rest day which should bring me around 30km per week. I do hope that I will achieve more in the process before the end of the month. Sorry to hear about your knee issue, hope in time and light leg exercises you will be fully recovered. I personally still run with both knee supports, so I am very aware of muscle and ligament pain now and then.

When I hit 100k last year, I was running a 10k at the morning, and 5k on Monday, Wednesday & Friday which averaged out at 25k a week. An extra bank holiday thrown in gave me a chance to have two long runs which turned out to be 14k & 17k respectively, that helped boost things.

The knee will be fine. It feels fine now but I've only just started back running last weekend and it'll take me a little while to get back upto distance.
